Altia has, today, announced the official appointment of Brice Neilson as its first Chief Information Officer (CIO).

With 16 years’ experience in executive level public and private sector information and cybersecurity governance, strategic and political policy and business management roles, Brice brings a wealth of experience in information technology, cybersecurity governance and the development of robust security frameworks.

Prior this appointment, Brice has held several positions at Altia, including interim Chief Information Security Officer. Initially, as Altia’s Cloud Architecture Consultant, Brice led the programme to adopt a highly secure, scalable, and on-demand cloud-first approach to solution delivery. Brice’s understanding of the relevant information and cybersecurity standards globally, including the Australia’s Cyber Security Centre Information Security Manual and Protective Security Policy Framework, United Kingdom’s UK OFFICIAL and UK NHS and the United States FedRAMP, has been an invaluable asset to Altia.

Critically, when it comes to investigation software and solutions, Brice is highly experienced in frontline policing, major and organised crime investigations, undercover and informant operations. He was also founder and CEO of VeriSaaS – a field intelligence and evidence collection software vendor – which was acquired, last year, by Altia. Brice has also been a member of Queensland’s Cybersecurity Steering Committee and advisor to the Queensland Governments Office of the State Disaster Coordinator, having recently been awarded the Queensland Premier’s Award for Excellence: Keeping Communities Safe.

Brice will work alongside Altia’s Chief Technology Officer, Huw Bristow, as Altia continues to significantly invest and innovate in all aspects of its solution offering to current and future customers – in both the public and private sector.

Rob Sinclair, CEO Altia, said:

“I’m delighted that Brice is taking on the role of CIO at Altia. As a Microsoft Certified Professional in Azure Cloud Architecture, and with a master’s level education in business administration and cloud models, risk management, networking and information security, Brice brings a unique skillset of business acumen and information technology expertise that has already contributed significantly to innovation and solution development for our customers.

“As well as being an expert in data security, the investigation disciplines Brice has experienced first-hand can uniquely benefit our private sector customers, too.”

Brice, CIO Altia, added:

“At Altia, we are supporting those who protect us, and that starts with protecting information, intelligence, evidence, credibility, safety, and efficiency models. I am honoured to have this opportunity to bring my learnings and experience to give back to those who put their lives and liberties on the line to protect ours – and to private sector customers, too.”

In addition to his CIO role, Brice continues to lead Altia’s operations as Director of the Asia Pacific region.
