In July 2018, a huge operation by the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit relied on Altia Insight, to crack a major fraud affecting multiple victims.

Five convictions were successfully secured at Crown Court. The judge in the case commended police investigators for their gathering of a huge body of evidence and expert presentation of
a particularly complex case.

The investigation, code named Operation Cronus. lasted 14 months and required analysis of over 100,000 pieces of information.

Convictions secured by police, 30 July 2018, Preston Crown Court:

  • Michael Milner, jailed for 17 years and nine months for 16 fraud offences, conspiracy to commit arson, running a company as an undischarged bankrupt and perverting the course of justice
  • Malcolm Keith, convicted of aiding and abetting Milner, jailed for 20 months
  • Rose Egarr, jailed for 30 months, struck off the register of solicitors and her home repossessed
  • Paul Kelly, found guilty of fraud and jailed for 20 months
  • Sarah Armstrong, former partner of Michael Milner, found guilty of perverting the course of justice, jailed for 12 months.
