Manchester Giants’ youth community group scores Altia sponsorship
Leading tech firm and police partner sponsors junior basketball team, supporting grassroots sport as a tool for crime prevention and youth development.
Altia, a leading software provider and trusted partner to UK police forces, has announced a new sponsorship of the Manchester Giants’ junior basketball programme.
The move forms part of Altia’s plans to support a growing grassroots movement that’s transforming lives through sport, which has links to crime prevention.
Altia’s sponsorship will help the volunteer-led club expand its reach, offering more court time, subsidised memberships, and additional training opportunities for young players aged 10–18.
With more than 150 boys already involved, the funding will allow the club to welcome even more young people from across the city.
Founded in 2012, the Manchester Giants community initiative is built on the belief that talent should shape a young person’s sporting journey, rather than financial background.
The club currently runs 11 youth teams across areas including Gorton, Moston and Whalley Range, where access to structured sports can be limited.
Additional funds will enable the community club to host more games, book vital court time and offer subsidised memberships for talented young players from lower-income households.
Altia’s support will also help sustain regular training sessions, officiated matches, and the launch of a new girls’ team later this year.
Rob Sinclair, CEO at Altia, said: “At Altia, we work every day to support law enforcement in tackling crime. But we also believe in aiding the work that prevents crime in the first place.
“We’re proud to support Manchester Giants, a programme that’s making such a positive impact within the community. Sport builds confidence, teamwork and ambition, and it’s fantastic to see the Giants’ coaches and volunteers creating a space where young people can thrive.”
Daniel Inglis, Head Coach for Under 18 Premier Blue and the Welfare Officer at Junior Manchester Giants added: “This sponsorship is a game-changer. It means we can grow without compromising our values; keeping focus on talent, commitment and community. We are now starting our next mission to grow the girls’ game. We’re excited to keep building something special for Manchester’s young people, where potential becomes a reality.”
